This site uncovers the many play methods in the Sega Saturn pinball game entitled "Digital Pinball: Necronomicon".

It is basically a big "how to play" with some fancy html design. A fansite if you will.

"Digital Pinball: Necronomicon" was released in Japan only. The game is inspired by the books and novels of late Howard Phillips Lovecraft. The game was created by KAZE Co., Ltd. in 1998, as the second game in their Digital Pinball series.

The game provides extraordinary visual experience as it runs in the high-resolution mode of the Sega Saturn, boasting graphics at the resolution of 640x448 pixels. Most other Saturn and Playstation games at the time used normal resolution (320x224 pixels) only. This is accompanied by a breathtaking progressive metal soundtrack. Written by the music department of Target Entertainment, and inspired by progressive metal pioneer and icon John Petrucci of Dream Theater. In fact, the music used in FMV sequences were composed by Petrucci himself. Further boasting the audio experience is the live narration, something that is relatively rare in Pinball games.

"Digital Pinball: Necronomicon" features one unique theme, split into three consecutive play tables. As the music, the gameplay is progressive too, it is in fact an adventure, which uncovers the secrets of the "Necronomicon" - the book of the dead. Therefore the game lacks many "classic" pinball features such as a Dot Matrix screen. To fully experience the theme provided by "Digital Pinball: Necronomicon", you need to play through Realms Mode which will accompany your quest with FMV (full motion video) sequences. You may progress in Realms Mode by unlocking every Round and then targetting one of the two Ramps in each table.

However, unlocking all the Rounds may not be easy to the first-time player. I too was surprised on how randomly I gained 100 Million point bonuses in the first minute of gameplay when other times I could make no progress at all. Therefore I decided to write down my experience in the dark world that "Digital Pinball: Necronomicon" provides.

Later I noticed that I cannot list only half of the game, it would make no sense. So I expanded it to a full guide, complete with score tables and using the translated names for gameplay features, taken from the in-game japanese manual. I hope this provides help to those intending to max out the score counter in the game, as much as they think its possible.
(The score counter maxes out at 999 999 999 999 points, and so far only on the 2nd table, was an earned score as high as that ever documented)

The "Journeyers Diary" is a copy of the content of the official "Digital Pinball: Necronomicon" site from Kaze Co.s website, retrieved through the Wayback Machine as it went offline long ago.

Random tidbit: the text around the "Moon Rock" on the Dreamlands table reads: "Go and pour out The seven jars of God's anger onto The earth!", a quote taken from the Holy Bible (Revelation 16, New Life Version).
